Review of Schizopolis (1997) by Peter H — 26 Mar 2009
Schizopolis is an amazing film that is among the unique few that are truly 'like it or hate it' brand. There is no middle ground reaction. You will adore it because you think you get it (or you just enjoy being befuddled) or you will detest it because you don't get it (and hate being befuddled).
Note that whether or not is is really and truly possible to completely 'get it' is unclear. Whatever the case may be, as one who at least thinks he 'gets it', I think this film has an abundance of charm and boundless creativity.
It is brilliantly laid out, has some gut-busting understated comedy and in the end, even upon repeat viewings, you feel like you just had an EXPERIENCE, not just a movie. NOTE: You should buy, not just rent this film, as the packaging itself is LOADED with further deeply embedded humor.
