Review of Save the Date (2012) by Paul Nicholas C — 09 Dec 2012
Honest and best in its quiet moments. 'Save the Date' allows the actors to perform beyond just the dialogue. The characters relate and react to each other in a very organic way -- at times it feels like a real conversation rather than scripted words on a page.
Caplan and Brie put this movie on their backs and show that they can carry a movie, while adding genuine humanity. The only serious weakness is the little too 'adorable' and 'cute' rebound boyfriend -- he feels more like a plot device with legs than a character with any real depth.
