Review of Rustom (2016) by Ming Siu G — 16 Aug 2016
The good: Some nifty camerawork and staging that compresses days into a single shot. The lead performances. The bad: Everything else. This is the last time I pay any attention to Asian reviewers. The dialogue is awful, it makes a complete mockery of the legal system (when the supposedly cunning prosecutor is a buffoon), directed like a soap opera, wallowing in melodramatic excess, and has the most overbearing and unsubtle music cues since the last Jack Neo movie.
It was a slog to sit through, despite occasional bits where I was interested.
