Review of Rock the Kasbah (2015) by W S — 15 Jan 2019
This movie made me realize that RT ratings can be completely ass-backwards. This film makes several powerful statements about political and social hypocrisies, of the oppressive Aghan society AND the failures of the American invasion of that country.
The message is presented in a safe and silly satire and based on a heartwarming true story of a girl who fought against social norms to be able to sing. It all somehow seems to go way over the heads of critics.
I don't know how anyone with a heart and soul that could knock this movie, or knock Bill Murray's performance in it. This movie has more heart and a more valuable message than any other i've seen in years.
