Review of Ripley's Game (2002) by Bill B — 03 Jan 2012
I've somehow seen this twice now, and I have to say that I really enjoy the idea of Ripley growing older and more sophisticated, but always retaining that casual murderous quality, which by this stage of his life has become his way of amusing himself when forced to deal with people who he finds contemptible, or who slight him in even the most minor ways.
The movie gives a breezy adaptation of the novel, and I have to say that it makes for a great double bill after the Damon film, as the tone here is decidedly more upbeat, despite how dark the subject matter may be.
Recommended.
