Review of Ride the High Country (1962) by Daniel S — 21 Jul 2007
It's like a toned-down, hokier, lower-stakes version of The Wild Bunch that, while very good, doesn't quite have the emotional resonance of that movie. I would have loved to see this same movie, with the same cast (Joel McCrea is awesome), made ten years later, when studio regulations weren't as strict and the Hays Code wasn't hanging over Peckinpah's head.
