Review of Ride the High Country (1962) by Mathieu C — 02 Sep 2007
Sam Peckinpah is a director known mostly for his use of violence, but this film feels like one of his throught its characters and themes. Here he proves that his auteuristic touch is much more than just violence, it is the idea of honor between men.
The film is about two old cowboys near the end of their lives who are working towards what they feel is the most important thing. One feels it is honor and to do the right thing and the other believes in just getting money.
The film also provides us with a young character who tags along and has is shaped by the doings of these two men. Great Film.
