Review of Revengers Tragedy (2002) by Marc-André D — 26 Mar 2010
Alex Cox's reworking of Thomas Middleton's play instead of taking place in the 17th century this film takes place in the near future. A man's wife is killed on their wedding night, so he goes into hiding for ten years just to come out for vengeance.
Well shot and acted, perhaps slightly long has that same feeling of other modern reworkings of classic plays like Titus and Lurhman's Romeo and Juliet.
