Review of Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008) by Chris G — 21 Mar 2011
The fourth entry in the "Sleepaway Camp" series, this film is considered to be a direct sequel to the original; meaning it ignores the previous two sequels as if they never happened. Now sometimes this can be a good thing and sometimes it can be a bad thing.
In this case, it was all bad. The film which takes place 20 years after the original killings, is very weird and hardly scary at all. Within the first hour, there is only three people killed and this is an hour and half film.
So you struggle to stay awake or even interested in it. And then out of nowhere, within the last half hour, everyone somehow ends up be killing just like that. And this is not the director's fault.
This is just a classic example of very bad screenwriting. This might have worked thirty years ago, but in this day and age, this will not pass for a good horror film, much less an excellent horror film.
