Review of Renoir (2012) by Jerry K — 09 Dec 2013
Story of Renoir's last muse and how she changed the lives of the painter & his son. Set in the lush countryside of southern France, the film makes you appreciate the impressionist pieces of Renoir that much more (as well as draw out his fascination with Titian, esp.
the Courtesans). American audience may not get it but its not like a typical French film --exploring the highs and the lows of human emotions, ever so delicately, complimenting it with beautiful scenes of the French countryside.
Very well done. Just wish the translation were better and I didn't have to rely on what remains of my college French.
