Review of Red Cliff (2008) by Richard J — 24 Jun 2011
The greatest Chinese epic I've seen, as well as the greatest John Woo movie I've seen - the 2 1/2 hour US release is great on its own, however, the best experience comes out of the full international release, which catapulted it into my personal top 10 list.
The personalities behind the battle come to life in ways that western films only dream of, especially those of Zhuge Liang and Sun Shangxiang. This movie is absolutely worth repeated viewings.
