Review of Reconstruction (1970) by Eric H — 28 Feb 2013
A passion crime shocks the small society of a remote Greek village. The flash-back technique is just brilliant and the film's realism is almost surreal. Excellent soundtrack as well. The Iliad story of Agamemnon and Klytaimnistra, the wife murdering the returning husband with the help of her lover Orestes is transferred to the wreck of post civil-war Greece.
Hauntingly brilliant, a really breath-taking film debut by Angelopoulos.
