Review of Rancho Deluxe (1975) by Eric B — 21 Jan 2015
Interesting movie with some really wonderful characters, but I'm not sure I really enjoy the happy-go-lucky-outlaw format that was so popular in the 1970's. Sometimes it just sits wrong with me when a filmmaker expects his audience to automatically root for the thief, particularly when the actor playing "the man" is able to imbue that character some sympathy.
Waterston is outstanding as a "native american" and Sheriff CW Pepper from the Bond flicks delivers a much more subtle performance as cattle baron Brown.
