Review of Quinceañera (2006) by Mariah F — 19 Apr 2008
When Carlos is ousted for being a thug, I got pissed. But when they added that Extra knowledge about something else, I said, "Oh, it's going to be a different kind of movie." Additionally, as a youngster, I could care less about sweet sixteens or quinceaneras so I was already going in skeptical.
Then it became about something else. I really enjoyed it. It was thoughtful, poignant, and very realistic. I wanted more and it ended exactly how I expected it to. These guys did a great job at making this film.
Y is that that white guys can make such great movies about Other cultures and We can't even make any movies that people will watch? Maybe it's me. Maybe I haven't seen enough movies made by Latinos.
But if its made by whyte ppl, people will watch it! But that's just me.
