Review of Primrose Path (1940) by Ashley H — 14 Oct 2016
Corny melodrama about a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, Ginger Rogers, getting involved with an up and coming young businessman, Joel McCrea. It's a pretty standard soaper and the only thing to distinguishes it from others of it's ilk is that the film was rather open about Rogers' mother being a prostitute, which was quite controversial at the time.
The average material is greatly elevated by the two leads.
