Review of Pope Joan (2009) by Shinta P — 14 Nov 2009
One of the few movies which can keep up to the book. A great strong story well told. John Goodman was the only cast role who wasn't convincing and more like a comedy character but all other characters expecially Joan as a grown woman as well as being a child and young woman where extremely well casted!
The CGI of Rome was a little poor but all other sets where well choosen and convincing. the story is easy to follw and apprehand even if you haven't read the book which I strongly recommend to do anyway! due to the very late change in cast and director the movie doesn't come up with any extra toppings or surprises as I guess there might not have been enough time to realize any special input / ideas the final director had (just assuming).
All in all it's a great movie properly excecuted and well told with an overall great cast and a strong touching story.
Go see it!
