Review of Police, Adjective (2010) by Parker M — 09 Apr 2010
I sat through this at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, in a room full of other cinema lovers, and whilst I think most of us enjoyed it there was definitely a bunch of people squirming in their seats during the frequent long scenes where the we joined the protagonist waiting for something to happen.
Yet, it was worth it, with a lead actor who somehow had us instantly caring about and engaged with the main character in a way few Hollywood actors can (or are given the opportunity to). With no music, excepting in one scene where it plays a pivotal part in exploring the character's relationship with his wife, and much basic (generally naturalistic) use of sound and images, it reminded me of a great period of Hollywood movies some thirty five + years ago.
A rewarding watch if you have an open mind towards movies.
