Review of Platoon (1986) by Dillon L — 18 Aug 2011
Platoon is an astonishing look at the day to day life of soldiers in the Vietnam war. Oliver Stone directs this smash hit based on his own time in the war. This film has a solid cast line up that delivered triumphant performances from Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen (who's father Martin starred in Vietnam war epic, Apocalypse Now).
The war sequences may be the best ever recorded on film. This film is a masterpiece and truly deserving of its Academy Award for Best Picture.
