Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Jamison R — 09 May 2010
Brilliantly achieved homage, as well as standing on its own as an unashamed, over-the-top zombie exploitation movie. Girls, guns, zombies and blood - what's not to like?
Planet Terror's real cleverness lies in the details - for instance the obligatory sex scene that's so hot the film melts, and then the next reel (featuring the rest of the sex scene) is missing, presumably in the hands of a dodgy projectionist - and also dumping the viewer back into the action a few minutes later, when the zombie attack is in full swing. Brilliantly clever editing with a wink to the audience.
