Review of Planet Ocean (2012) by Anthony P — 25 May 2013
If you want to watch a good documentary about ocean life, don't watch this. This is a boring, eco activist documentary that doesn't showcase any subject matter it deals with to the fullest. A bit of magnificent ocean scenery, a bit of environmental disasters, a bit of coastal urban landscapes and a lot of preaching about how we, humans, fish for fish until there is no fish left to fish, so how can we fish even more? The narrator has a voice that will put you to sleep, but not in a calm, soothing way, more like in that way when you try to force yourself to sleep only to escape the harsh grip of reality.
There are some meaningful messages here about the importance of aquatic life, but they are presented in a crappy package. Avoid this mess.
