Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Elizabeth M — 09 Nov 2011
One of my favourite childhood films, Pinocchio had everything that was brilliant about Disney.
The enchanting classic was given the DIsney treatment with tremendously beautiful artwork, colours and animation. The memorable characters, their interactions and their relationships with others all show a level of depth that you just don't see anymore in today's animated features. The script is also rich in content and incredibly deep as it contains many traces of wit, humour, ferocity, joy, mystery, fear, charm, magic, drama and hope.
What makes Pinocchio such a legendary and memorable piece in the Disney canon is the simplicity, maturity, purity and emotional nature of the story. The universal appeal of the film can be appreciated by all cultures and generations.
