Review of Pinky (1949) by Donald M — 14 Jan 2008
The story of a malto girl who returns home after passing for white in the north. As events unfold she realises that she does not want to deny her black roots. Story is made less believable as the part of Pinky is played by a white actress, then again it is a product of the Hollywood system at the time.
What boggles my mind is that these attitudes about race were held not that long ago. The story still has a timeless quality as people today still try to pass themselves off as something they are not.
