Review of Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman (2005) by Ritchie S — 30 Sep 2007
Wonderful perfomances by Timothy Spall, Juliet Stevenson and Eddie Marsan drive this strangely oblique movie about Albert Pierrepoint, England's last hangman. Spall captures the mental compartmentalization that saves Perrepoint's sanity and Stevenson's stoic and ambitious wife is a telling counterpoint.
A great and gritty movie.
