Review of Philomena (2013) by Aman A — 20 Apr 2014
Watching this movie, I rued on why I keep trying to watch commercial action entertainers all the time. I missed really good cinema. Philomena was pure and touching. It had genuineness, humanity and a pillow-comforting softness in a topic that is hard hitting.
It does not overplay any emotion. The movie lets the emotional quotient gently sail on a wave. The acting is spot on. Camera work is unobtrusive. This is not a film which is either funny or mushy or angry.
It is a film that experiences heartfelt human emotions in the same breath as a human being. I adored the film. It is a must watch.
