Review of Phase IV (1974) by Derek G — 02 Sep 2010
The real life ant photography is great, very eerie and not something you'll see in any other movie. The music is very sparse and well used and I applaud any attempt to make a smart sci-fi/horror film.
The main problem is with the human characters, which are one dimensional and sometimes quite goofy. It's an interesting film, but not really a succesful one. It's too bad that Saul Bass didn't go on to direct anything else because, based on this, he really had potential.
