Review of Personal Shopper (2016) by Darian M — 12 Mar 2017
Personal Shopper was disorienting as it was heartbreaking, and about as well received as cilantro. It's not for everyone - and that's okay.
Reading less like a story and more as a character study, Kristen Stewart's portrayal of grief and anxiety will thrust you into Maureen's chaotic-yet-routine world of a personal shopper and part time medium. Her exterior hides nothing of the characters inner turmoil, her confusion as transparent as the viewers, guiding us through the supernatural world of spirits and their intentions. Assaya's newest creation is bold, genre defying, and unapologetic ally perplexing,.
