Review of Performance (1970) by Neal B — 07 Feb 2008
Donald Cammell and Nick Roeg do a brilliant job on this. The cut up editing works really well, to move the story along and give depth. The visuals work really well and added authenticity is leant by a London gang fellow acting in it.
A very un-American movie, making very good use of and intertwining of identity, sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll and particularly English gangsters. Not only the Rolling Stones were obsessed by Anita Pallenberg, I was too after I first saw this film at the flicks, aged 12!
