Review of Pal Joey (1957) by Sarah F — 28 Sep 2006
Lame musical with a few classic songs. Frank Sinatra is the heel who annoys everyone. He falls for neighbour Kim Novak but charms wealthy Rita Hayworth into opening a nightclub called Chez Joey. Colourful movie featuring two all-time great songs: Bewitched and Lady is a Tramp.
The rest of the movie has lame plot and dull direction. There's peculiar and dated lingo spoken by Sinatra - he refers to women as "mice". Pal Joey is one of those famous musicals from '50s but all featured stars have appeared in better movies.
