Finally got around to seeing Pacific Rim. Why didn't I see this sooner - it was awesome!
Its Robot Jox vs Godzilla. Its a live action mecha anime akin to Voltes V. I can see why people drew similarities to Neon Genesis Evangelion too.
This is about as good as Hollywood could ever do a movie like this. From this point on (probably since this was released) any monster/giant robot movie will be compared to Pacific Rim in terms of action and overall quality. Yeah the story is a little hammy but you expect that with these sorts of movies. At around 2 hours long it never felt long or boring too which is a plus, easy thing to happen with such a long movie.
