Review of Our Daily Bread (2006) by Anna T — 08 Feb 2010
Clinical look at how our meat, produce and crops are harvested and handled before they hit our dinner table. This is not narriated (cleverly so) just gives you the visuals and leaves you to your own thoughts, and the movie cares not either way what they may be.
It's just an in your face, "this is how it's done" VIEW of ...how it's done. I must admit that little baby peeps chirping and jumping on the conveyor belt until they are plucked down the shoot and come flying out the other side with no head or feet is more than a little bit disturbing.
.other scenes of cattle being slaughtered is as well - so be forewarned. There are also scenes of men covered as for bio-hazard preparedness while they spray our crops...then again? Some very interesting scenes of the machinary in the fields and how it works and that for me was very interesting.
