Review of Operation Red Sea (2018) by Dominic C — 13 Aug 2018
One of the best action war genre films. Despite the jingoism and patriotic intent to save lives not only Chinese but Africans as well as foreigners, actions in the films bridges the understanding of those involved in operations tend to be more understanding about the nature of soldiering.
The constant manner of visions of death, decapitations, dangerously near dying, etc, depicts the gruesome images conflict operations can become. Survivability is only via aggressive and offensive participation to stay alive and fear is the grim reaper's calling.
When Dante Lam directed Operation Mekong, the actions are less tragic but still Dante loved to embrace that 'brave encouragement' to fight on in the face of facing multiple deathly threats and firepower.
This film will be good for China, as the film will encourage young Chinese that China can do good in the world if its force is used in the right way.
