This film is only great if you are willing to do a little homework before and after the movie, otherwise, you'll be left confused. Refn didn't intend for this, but I am sure the main reason people don't like this film is because they don't understand it and they have a right to be upset that you have to do a little research after the film to better understand it.

Trust me on this, read a few interviews with Refn before the film, then after it do some research on the parts that confuse you. You will find that everything in the film is intentional and it all makes perfect sense once you take time to understand what Refn intended to do with this film.
