Review of Okja (2017) by Wayne L — 02 Jan 2018
Wow, this movie impressed. Takes in elements of spanish cinematography, music, Jewish music, and unique cinematic angles creating interesting views. As a Korean American it pays homage to our roots in the mountains and tells the traditional stories of mystical animals that helped, in some case cases terrorized, the Korean peoples.
The mysticism translates well into American culture as well. And an amazing performance from the Korean cast, Tilda Swinton, Jake jake Gyllenhaal, and last but not least Steven Yeun who leaves his mark with Korean Americans that are hilarious but not properly translated.
