Review of Offside (2006) by David K — 03 May 2008
This is a very sweet, but societal shattering movie from Iran. "Offside" takes place during that Iran qualifying game to go to the 2006 World Cup. Cinematically, how this is pulled off, is really smart.
The acting felt very over-the-top. So much so that it kept reminding me that I was watching a movie. But other than that the movie is pretty good. It pushes on some important issues not just in Iranian culture, but also in worldly culture.
I really enjoyed it.
