Like Zero Dark Thirty, Not Fade Away is all about chasing a fancy and ends with an ambiguous moment of existential inquiry. But whereas Zero Dark Thirty ends with a bitter note, Not Fade Away seems to take the clueless story of its protagonist in a much more optimistic manner.
See, folks! This is how you capture the mood of the 60s and the 70s. Not like...Forrest Gump *smile contemptuously*.
