Review of Noise (2007) by Anna B — 06 Mar 2016
The material is a little dopey at times, but Saville's beautiful direction manages to sell it. He has absolute control over his camera and his pacing, and maintains a constant sense of tension and compulsion to see what happens next, even in moments that made my eyes want to roll (the Australianisms are very forced, and it gets pretty melodramatic at times).
So yes, it has its flaws, but man, compared to the usual Australian drama standard, this is top-tier filmmaking.
