Review of Nil by Mouth (1997) by Adam B — 12 Dec 2008
This is British cinema at it's very best.
Ray Winstone and Kathy Burke head a strong cast giving naturalistic performances in this hard-hitting film written and directed by another of England's finest Actors, Gary Oldman.
It is totally believable from beginning to end and balances comedy beautifully with the tragic and the violence.
Every scene is a work of art and the sound track reflects the characters' generations and situations perfectly.
I have an undying passion for British movies and in my opinion this certainly ranks as one of the best.
