Review of Never Say Never Again (1983) by Mike B — 06 Feb 2013
Sometimes a repetitive franchise needs an out-of-house installment to remind us how these films should be done. While this uses the Thunderball plot as its basis, everything here has been executed perfectly.
The characters, like Emilio Largo, Felix Leiter and even James Bond himself are much more enjoyable to watch, and for the first time the humour is actually well played, especially through Rowan Atkinson's character.
The plot is much easier to follow, while the action is well directed and exciting, without becoming too silly or confusing. With this film, Sean Connery reminded us what 007 and his films should always be.
