Review of Necromentia (2009) by Al M — 14 Jun 2012
Featuring a dark, twisted aesthetic reminiscent of Guillermo del Toro's films or Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics, Necromentia doesn't quite reach the heights to which strives, but its ambition goes a long way.
The film jumps back and forth between the fatally intertwining stories of two characters literally bent on a path to Hell. Darkly beautiful, genuinely twisted, and thoroughly horrific, Necromentia will delights fans of horror and transgressive cinema that want some style with their gore and trauma.
Necromentia is an effort from a director that I hope to see more of in the future.
