Review of Myra Breckinridge (1970) by Lee G — 25 Aug 2007
Supposedly one of the worst films ever made, I certainly get a kick out of it whenever I watch it - its wierdness and complete lack of good taste make it a real oddball gem. Raquel Welch, it has to be said, gives the performance of a lifetime here, completely milking the role for all its' worth, and film critic Rex Reed is as dry as a Martini as her handsome male alter-ego Myron, making waspish, caustic observations from the sidelines.
Look out for the clever use of a scene from Marilyn Monroe's unfinished film "Something's Gotta Give" in a party scene.
