Review of Myra Breckinridge (1970) by Amanda N — 12 Mar 2008
It's said to be such a horrible movie, but I rather enjoyed it. Don't try to understand it. Just revel in the over indulgence because that's what this movie is. I mean, the director was so full of himself that he spent 6 hours shooting a cake.
It's totally ridiculous and it's not the only time that Gore Vidal disowned an adaptation of his novel. There was also Caligula. Which I also loved. Notice that for both of these films, he was actually involved in the original screenplay.
God, that guy should stay away from Hollywood.
