Review of My Bill (1938) by Terry H — 11 Mar 2014
I almost dread seeing Kay Francis on screen when I check TCM; the chance of it being a weeper is high and something maudlin is almost guaranteed. Ms. Francis's loveliness never eclipses her suffering expression.
Dickie Moore as Ms. Francis's son is the cute and corny saving grace of this film. The story is primarily driven by a case of misunderstanding - Ms. Francis's older children think she cheated on their father while he was still alive and drive her suffering for the film. Dickie Moore comes through and saves the day in a rather fantastic set of circumstances. Not a film worth seeking out - but okay for killing an hour.
