Review of Mr. Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter, Jr. (1999) by Geoffrey S — 12 Jul 2007
Errol Morris has a lineage of outstanding documentaries to his credit, including Gates of Heaven and the Thin Blue Line.
Mr. Death can be added to that list. The irony of how this man goes from a nobody, to bride of the executioner, then queen of the anti-semites, and back to a nobody.
The story telling of Errol Morris is impeccable in his portrayal of Leuchter as someone who seemed to be able to manipulate his world to his choosing, and then becomes the manipulated, much to his final destruction.
Ninety minutes of documentary genius and recommended must see.
