Review of Movie Movie (1978) by Simon T — 25 Jul 2016
Gloriously funny and affectionate send up of a typical 1930s double-bill. Larry Gelbart and Sheldon Keller's screenplay is stuffed with every cliché going, and several new ones: they also shoe-horn a bunch of laugh-out-loud doubles entendres for those viewers who really listen.
Stanley Donen elicits marvellous deadpan performances from the whole cast, and clearly has a ball revisiting his MGM years. An overlooked gem.
