Review of Mortuary (2005) by Chris M — 04 Aug 2009
When I popped in Mortuary, I was only expecting a hopefully entertaining 80's genre movie. Pretty soon, I found myself engrossed by the story and characters on display. Some of the thoughts that crossed my mind were: Who really killed the lead's father? What's up with her aloof mom? Is that Bill Paxton? Wow, Christopher George is awesome! Hot damn, that killer is TERRIFYING!
Mortuary is a spooky soap opera on acid. The performances are solid and the killer's disguise is genuinely creepy. There's a few good scares, a few twists, and a really cool ending. The music score is also pretty moody and memorable.
It's a must for 80's slasher fans and fans of Christopher and Linda Gay George as well as Bill Paxton who gives a pretty good early performance. It's worth checking out!
