Review of Moolaadé (2004) by Chris S — 10 Feb 2008
It is a great movie that deals with something entirely new. Female circumcision is still a tradition in this village even though it only just leads to pain, suffering and death. In this film, the reason for forcing the girls to be "purified" isn't about tradition anymore.
It is about power and authority, and it is quite ridiculous. I consider this a wonderful feminist film.
