If you're expecting a Michael Bay film, pass on. 'Monsters' is a beautiful movie, small in budget but big in scope and with a solid emotional core that puts character and story first. There are some standout visual effects moments, especially the climax which is heart breaking.
A thoughtful, intelligent film with a wonderful soundtrack by Jon Hopkins.
