Review of Monsieur Lazhar (2011) by Francis D — 04 Nov 2011
As a recently retired teacher, this film hasn't helped my adjustment to retirement! I want to go back into the classroom! The classroom scenes are so real; the expressions on those children's faces are what one sees in a classroom of 11-12 year olds every day.
The teachers' interactions are also perfect. And the revelations of loss, confusion, guilt are so well done. The humorous moments sprinkled throughout the film provide a balance that takes the film to the level the story deserves.
