Review of Moner Manush (2010) by Efaz A — 21 Jun 2011
Saw this on DVD last night and it's an authentic piece of cinema for sure.
The story revolves around an Indian rural cult singer, Lalon Fakir, which was genuinely and touchingly performed by Prasenjit Chatterjee.
Lalon's philosophy is freeing in the sense he and his songs preach about rising above the Hindu-Muslim sectarian prejudices and regard people as people. The film has subtitles, so I'd recommend it to anyone who's into the history of social prejudice.
