Review of Mondovino (2004) by Private U — 26 Mar 2009
Oversimplified and intellectually dishonest. I'm sure this film will wildly appeal to luddites everywhere who think everything old is better and modern technology is inhuman. Any valid issues this movie brings up are overshadowed by dirty editing (do you really think Michel Rolland only told his clients to micro oxygenate?), spending silly amounts of time spent on the Super Tuscan/Wine Spectator/Mondavi conspiracy web and tying all powerhouse wine makers to Mussolini/Hitler/Reagan.
"Modern wine making is fascist, dude! Let's destroy all technology and then drown ourselves in Walden Pond.".
